GSU is a Regional Public University, fully accredited through the Higher Learning Commission. GSU was established in 1969 as an upper division and transfer university to serve non-traditional adult learners.
Today, GSU is a comprehensive four-year institution (2014) serving 6000 students; 41% adults over the age of 25. SXL is GSU's continuing education division.
Since its inception in 1976, School of Extended Learning (SXL) has been committed to engaging the non-traditional adult learners, including military-connected in career training, professional certifications, and degrees that lead to employment. SXL offers flexible non-degree options for working professionals, Veterans, active-duty military, ESL students, moms re-entering the workforce, and adults seeking continued enrichment opportunities. SXL works with business, non-profit, government, health, and education sectors to provide the latest in-demand training for the Chicago Southland region and beyond through online learning options.
If a student withdraws in the first month with less than 17% of program content completed, they get back 83% of tuition. If a student withdraws in the second month with less than 34% of completed program content, they get back 66% of tuition. If a student withdraws in the third month with less than 51% of completed program content, they get back 49% of tuition. No refund after third month or beyond midpoint of program.
